Brothers accused of beating man over pit bull

FORT MYERS — Two brothers were arrested after one’s girlfriend called deputies about a fight they were in with neighbors about a pit bull.



Matthew Scott Jarvis, 24, and Christopher Keith Jarvis, 25, both of the 3600 block of Unique Circle, Fort Myers, were each charged with battery/second or subsequent offense. Matthew Jarvis additionally was charged with carrying a concealed weapon – brass knuckles. Christopher Jarvis must post $20,000 bond before his release, while Matthew Jarvis is being held without bond on the previous battery charge.

According to Lee County Sheriff’s Office reports:

Sarah Christine Lampila, 22, who lives on Unique Circle, found Christopher Jarvis’ pit bull running lose, so she took him inside for safety. She called the brothers, but could only get Matthew Jarvis and told him she had the dog.

A short time later, Lampila and her friends, Jessica Duggar and James Green, were on the porch when the Jarvis brothers came over, accused Green, 19, of stealing the dog and jumped him. While Duggar tried to break up the fight, she was hit in the face by Calvin Keith Jarvis, 49, the brother’s father.

The father said as he came home from a bar, he saw his sons involved in a fight, went to break it up and tell his boys to go home. Someone sprayed a fire extinguisher and the Jarvis’s left.

Meantime Nicole Gonzalez, Christopher Jarvis’ girlfriend, called 911.

Christopher Jarvis said he only went to get his dog and didn’t hit anyone, while his brother claimed to be home all night.
